Now there are some qualifiers, of course. Not every lab nor every instrument is going to be able to reduce QC. A badly engineered instrument. Or a poorly maintained and deteriorating instrument. Or a poorly operating laboratory. All of those factors may eliminate any ability for a laboratory to streamline QC - in fact a sober assessment might then require the laboratory to actually _increase_ QC.

But for a majority of laboratories, operating well-maintained instruments with reasonable competence, if they are practicing the antiquated 1:2s with 2 controls, there is every reason to change how they implement QC and reduce the number of outliers and false alarms from what they are suffering now.
