The First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Medical University (FAHXMU) is a comprehensive teaching hospital integrating medical services with teaching, research, prevention and healthcare, rehabilitation treatment and first-aid. It was founded in 1951 and enjoyed a good reputation in Shannxi Province for its higher capacity of treatment, scientific research and international exchange. It is the first approved Grade III A-level hospital in Shaanxi province in the new round nationwide evaluation and has developed as an emerging brand hospital in recent years in Shaanxi province of China.

The FAHXMU took the headquarter as the core, managed the Fengdong Xincheng Textile Hospital (Xi'an Fengdong Hospital of the FAHXMU) and Lianhu District Tumen Community Health Service Center as affiliated branch. Such two public hospital medical coalitions as Fengdong Xincheng medical coalitions and Lianhu district public hospital have been established respectively. The member units cover one Grade III hospital, eight Grade II hospitals, ten Grade I hospitals, one nursing home, more than 40 community health service centers and health centers, and three cooperative units.

The FAHXMU has 1200 beds, among which 900 are opened beds. The hospital has over 1700 full time employees, including 62 departments, 7 teaching departments, one general practice training center and one central laboratory. It is composed of many qualified experts, among whom more than 200 are with a title of professors and associate professors equivalent and over 100 are core teachers. Moreover, more than 400 have doctor's and master's degree.

The hospital is the Xi'an Emergency Center Chengxi Sub-center, Xi'an Pre-hospital First Aid Training Center, Shaanxi Provincial Resident Standardized Training Management Center, and the major clinical cultivation base for basic level medical and health talents of Shaanxi Province. Meanwhile, it is also the affiliated unit of general medical school, the department of clinical medicine and the Hospital Management Research Institute of Xi'an Medical University. The General Medical School currently is the biggest and most complete one nationwide.

The hospital attaches great importance to international exchange and talents culturing and introduction. The FAHXMU has signed agreements on exchange visiting scholar programs with Weber State University, Pima Medical Institute, Mayo Clinic, University of British Columbia, the Campus Bio-Medico University and Taiwan China Medical University hospital to communicate and collaborate extensively, deeply and tightly in the area of medical service, medical teaching, and scientific research.
