As several people know, the highlight of the Antwerp Quality in the Spotlight conference is not the Westgard Award, but the "Limerick Challenge" of the evening dinner.
In 2016, there was a scandalous episode of nepotism, which resulted in the winning team containing not only myself ("a" Westgard) but also Jochem Goldschmidt ("a" Goldschmidt, son of the conference organizer). Thus, we received lifetime bans from participating in future Limerick contests. And founds ourselves running the Limerick as Quiz Masters this year.
Since the overall theme of the conference this year was "next generation" - that, too, became the theme of the Limerick contest.
Here myself and Jochem on the right are presenting the prize (a bottle of champagne, to be consumed that evening)

At the AACC/ASCLS conference in San Diego, many of the Sigma VP laboratories contributed to a poster on evaluating the applicability of various analytical performance specifications for AST:
Multisite study of AST analytical performance reveals disparities in global performance specifications
The full poster can be downloaded from our westgard.com download section here. (free membership required)
But what was most rewarding was meeting with many of the co-authors who came to the meeting.

Thanks to all who attended the "Trust but Verify" workshop, the "Quality: It Gets Better" industry workshop, and to those who visited our booth, who posed with us for pictures, who shared war stories, and even those who just dropped by to say hello. It made the week rush by - and we regretted seeing it end.
