I read a recent paper on errors across the Total Testing Process (TTP) recently. It's a unique paper, one that delved into the types of non-conformances.
Evaluation of Non Conformances in the Total Testing Process of a NABL-accredited Clinical Biochemistry Laboraotry: An Observational Study. Dharmikkumar Savjibhai Patel, Harshkumar Darj, Khushbu R Panchal, Komal J Rathod, Journal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research. 2026 Mar, Vol-20(3): BC19-BC23. https://www.jcdr.net/articles/PDF/22571/85000_R3_Final_PD(OM_PS)_PF1(PS)_F(NK)_PF1redo(PS_NK)_PFA(SS)_PN(IS).pdf
The study tracks non-conformances over a year in the clinical biochemistry lab of a tertiary teaching hospital in rural Gujarat, India. There are those that would be quick to dismiss these results as an outlier, but there are fewer studies from the more developed part of the world.
Again the common wisdom is that pre-analytical errors are all that we need to focus on, to worry about, and thus we don't need to pay attention to analytical errors or post-analytical errors.
Well, this is another inversion of common wisdom.
